So after a loooong day if traveling, I've finally landed in Portland, OR. I was out a little later than I anticipated last night but had a blast so now I just need a nap. I have a pretty stacked schedule while here for The NW Sustainability Discovery Tour produced by the AMAZING folks at Truitt Brothers. Tonight kicks things off with a much anticipated tour and dinner at Willamette Valley Vineyards , home to some of the best sustainable wines which has also earned them the title "One of America's Great Pinot Noir Producers," from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
We will spend Monday and Tuesday as a classroom and field experience starting each day with keynote speakers, workshops and panel discussions from industry leaders and change-makers. I will be on a panel titled "Overcoming Obstacles to Sustainable Food Sourcing" on Monday. After lunch each day, we "journey afield" to learn about environmentally responsible green bean farming and harvesting, and then on over to tour Truitt Bros’ multi-location Food Alliance certified food processing plants and Tru Culinary Center, the first food processing facilities in the nation to earn Food Alliance certification.
After a "rough" day out on the farm, we head on over to The Allison, Oregon Wine Country’s premier resort destination for dinner.
I'll be snapping plenty of pics and video... stay tuned!
